Rudy Capelo – President

Rudy has had the pleasure of serving on the board as Sponsorship Chair for the last 3 years before being elected to President. This will be his 4th year on the board.   As President, Rudy is the primary leader of the club.

He is honored to be the President of Cypress Running Club and looks forward to continuing supporting our primary purpose of our club- To promote running and walking as sports and to promote running and walking as components of a healthy lifestyle for Club members of all abilities.

It has been truly extraordinary for Rudy to work and run with a community of talented people. New leadership always bring potential change, but change is needed to grow. He is excited to inspire new ideas so that the club can expand.

CRC was born from the passion, dedication and selfless giving to others in support of the mental, physical and social aspects of fellow runners. It’s a privilege to help shape and contribute towards the clubs’ objectives of giving back to our running family and serving our local community.

Rudy is happily married to his wife Kim and has 2 kids, Theo and Nikko!

Jen Laughlin – Vice President

Hey hey! I am Jen Laughlin and I am the current VP.  I started in CRC the very first year, although I did nothing as I was pregnant with my now Middle Schooler! I have mainly run with the Advanced Group, but I fell in love with the trails during the pandemic.  I have run all distances from 5k to 50k and have been the first overall female in a 5k, 10k, half and full!  I have a hubby who loves hiking and hates running.  I have two boys, ages 12 and 18 and two dogs who rule my world.

Laura Saldana Toro – Treasurer

Hi- my name is Laura and I have a lot of kids and I like to run. I handle the money for the club!

Heather Lininger – Secretary

Hi! My name is Heather Lininger and I joined CRC in 2014 with my mom, Kim Bowden. I have been a CRC Board member since 2017. I initially started out with the Foundation group and now mostly train with the Walking and Trail groups. I have been an athlete my entire life (played volleyball in college) and to be honest I did not enjoy running initially. It wasn’t until I became a part of the Houston running community that I learned to love running and everything it stood for. To me running is more than the miles you put in each week, it’s the opportunity to meet new people and know that everyone is working towards a common goal of putting one foot in front of the other. Just like life, you have to keep moving forward. In my running career, I have run about 8 half-marathons, countless 5Ks and 10Ks, and plenty of trails. I currently live in Cypress, TX with my husband Ben and our two rescue pups, Dexter and Penny.
