It’s raffle time again! Last month CRC members were able to enter when attending Saturday distance runs, this time it’s speed work. Speed work is an important component of the CRC train plan. It may sound intimidating and you may think “I have no business participating in speed work because I am not fast” but that is absolutely not the case.

CRC hosts speed work sessions at the Cy Fair HS track on Mondays at 7pm (during CDT) and Tuesdays at 5am. Veteran runners are always around at the start of each session to provide an overview of the speed work for that day, as well as explain how speed work fits into our overall training plan and how it benefits you. On Monday evenings our veterans include Andrew Robia and Ashley Bass, while Kevin Roach and Lisa Johnson are Tuesday morning regulars.

Plenty of folks bring their kids along on Monday evenings so don’t let that stop you from coming out. 5k’ers are also encouraged to come and do their mid-week workout at the track to participate in the raffle and learn more about speed work.

If you haven’t been out to the track yet, this is the time to give speed work a try. For the next three weeks (Sept 17/18, 24/25, & Oct 1/2) we will be have the raffle box at speed work and all CRCers, veterans and new members, will be able to enter up to three times for a chance to win a $20 gift card to Fleet Feet.
