Another amazing race is being held right here in Cypress at the end of this month. The Houston Triathlon, hosted at Towne Lake, will have athletes competing in both Sprint and Olympic distance events. Even if you have never attended or participated in a triathlon before this is a great event to be a part of because:

  1. It will be a great opportunity to wear your new club shirt at a race, even if you are not competing. CRC volunteers have pre-approval to wear our club shirts, instead of the volunteer t-shirt.
  2. Many CRC’ers will be racing and seeing your bright orange shirts in the crowd and hearing you cheer will give them an extra boost along the course. Hopefully they will take a couple extra seconds in transition to put theirs on as well!
  3. As a runner you can appreciate a well-organized hydration station and know what the athletes are expecting when you volunteer to support this run course.
  4. It’s right here in Cypress!
  5. You can enjoy the morning hanging out, not running, with other CRC members.
  6. Onurmark Productions, the same production company as last month’s Bridgeland Triathlon and next month’s Monster Mash Run, puts on extremely well-organized events.
  7. We will have a CRC tent in the post-race party area for CRC athletes, volunteers, fans and families to congregate.
  8. Maybe you have been thinking about biking and swimming as cross-training for your running and wanted to see a triathlon in action.

Last month CRC took over the hydration stations along the run course at the Bridgeland Sprint Triathlon, and our group efforts were rewarded with a $300 contribution to the run club. Hopefully our club can provide the same level of support for this event. CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP AS A VOLUNTEER FOR THE HOUSTON TRIATHLON. The volunteer sign up is currently not yet linked from the Houston Triathlon website, so our club should be able to get first dibs on volunteer opportunities. In the comment box, please note you are volunteering as part of Cypress Running Club.
