Advanced Training Program

On the 2013-14 season, we introduced CRC’s Advanced Training Plan for experienced marathoners and many of its members achieved PB with several of them reaching Boston Qualifiers times.

For the 2016-17 season, we are continuing with this plan and adding a number of modifications as a result of our learning during the last season.

The Advanced Training Plan is only for full marathons, because of the unique training requirements of racing longer than 20 miles.

We consider experienced marathoners to be those who:

  • Run 25 or more miles weekly
  • Have run 4 or more marathons in the last two years

For the 2016-17 season, the Advanced Training Plan has as main objective of Houston Marathon on Jan 17th, 2016.
The plan is designed to peak at this race, if you plan to run more than one Marathon during the 2015-2016 season we suggest allowing at least 12 weeks between races in order to recover and prepare for the second event.
